E.Pruitt, Seattle Bassist

Seattle bassist turns the 7-string bass into a lead voice on new album featuring an all-star band, international radio success, and a limited vinyl release.

I'm a huge fan of making people feel something. Not every song on the album gives the same kind of feel. Just like graffiti on a wall, with different artists adding different elements.”
— E.Pruitt
SEATTLE, WA, UNITED STATES, August 17, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Contemporary jazz bassist E Pruitt will release his first full length album, Bass Graffiti on August 28, 2026, bringing his unmistakable 7-string bass sound to vinyl, CD, and streaming platforms worldwide.

Built around Pruitt's custom 7-string bass guitars played not simply as foundational rhythm instruments, but as commanding lead voices, Bass Graffiti is a muscular, melodic and surprisingly soulful take on contemporary jazz.

Across 9 tracks, Pruitt moves the bass from the back of the stage to the front, exploring its range as a melodic instrument while never losing the deep groove that makes bass music so irresistible. The result is a contemporary jazz that can be smooth without playing it safe: Sophisticated, funky, atmospheric and unapologetically bass-forward.

It’s why his billboard in Times Square led with, “Oh my, what a big bass you have.”

A Band Built for the Music
Pruitt is joined on Bass Graffiti by a formidable group of Seattle-area musicians: Reshard Radford (keys), Maureese Itson (saxophone), John Anthony (bass), Akim “The Dream” Finch (percussion), Mariio Pierce (synth) and Chris Harris (drums). Together, the musicians create a sound both punchy and smooth enough to blend with Pruitt’s extended-range instrument, moving comfortably between contemporary jazz, funk, R&B, and groove-driven instrumental music.

The album features special guest artists Rick Habana on “What Do You Say,” and vocalist Todd Brown on “Your Flame.” Two band members are also featured on the album, with Reshard Radford’s piano on “Kids Play” and Maureese Itson’s soprano sax on “Echoes.”

Pruitt performs his own take on the legendary smooth jazz superstar Peter White’s song “Good Day,” earning a welcoming nod from the composer himself when the cover song was released as a single late last year. And when the legendary bassist Nathan East sounded off on Pruitt’s version, it was clear he had achieved something special. After East’s comments, the recording charted on Smoothjazz.com and received airplay on more than 90 stations around the world.

Seven Strings. One Very Different Voice.
Extended-range basses are often associated with technical virtuosity. Pruitt uses that expanded range for something more fundamental: Melody.

The custom 7-string instruments made by Scott Surine allow him to move effortlessly between the traditional low end of the bass and registers normally occupied by guitar, saxophone, and other lead instruments. Rather than treating virtuosity as the destination, Pruitt uses the instrument's enormous range to create memorable melodies expressive solos and a remarkably full musical voice.

That philosophy runs throughout Bass Graffiti. It is music designed to reward serious musicians while remaining immediately accessible to listeners who simply want to put on a record and enjoy it.
The bass isn’t supporting the conversation. It is the conversation.

Made in Washington
Bass Graffiti was recorded at three Washington State studios, including the legendary Robert Lang Studios, along with Alan Hardwick Productions at Studio Edmonds and Pruitt’s own Balance Studios in Puyallup. Tracks were recorded both live in studio and remotely in pieces, then mixed by producer Alan Hardwick in Edmonds and mastered by Rachel Field at Resonant Mastering in Seattle. The sessions capture the immediacy of accomplished musicians playing together while giving Pruitt’s massive seven-string tone room to breathe.

The album will be available beginning August 28 on major streaming platforms and CD, as well as in a premium physical edition for vinyl listeners. The vinyl release is pressed on high-quality 180-gram vinyl, with traditional black editions and a limited-edition spatter pressing available while supplies last.

For an album called Bass Graffiti, the physical format feels particularly appropriate: big artwork, big grooves, and, naturally, big bass.

Album Release Celebration – August 29
E.Pruitt and his band will celebrate the release of Bass Graffiti with a live performance at Bake’s Place in Bellevue, Washington on Saturday, August 29 at 8:00 p.m. The evening will bring the album to stage the day after its worldwide release. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the artist and members of the band, and to purchase signed copies of the album. The show will also include a sneak peek of songs from E’s next album, “Abstract,” set for release in 2027. Reservations are required.
